If you handle large volumes of the same SKU, typically 2 to 15 pallets per line, storing two deep is a cost-effective way to add capacity.
Pallets sit two positions deep, and forklifts fitted with a double-reach mechanism retrieve the rear pallet. Because each aisle now serves twice as many pallets, you need fewer aisles and can fit more racking into the same floor area.
Selectivity drops slightly when pallets are stored two deep. However, the impact is minimal when the same SKU sits in front of itself, so you rarely need to move one pallet to reach another product.
The system uses the same ColbyRACK components and comes in standard and heavy-duty versions. As a result, you get more storage density in less space, which works best for high-throughput stock.
